The Agriculture Insurance Board is also ready to pay compensation for crop damage, said the Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
He said that Rs. 5,000 million had been paid for crop damage last year as well and accordingly compensation for the damage would be paid this year as well.
The Paddy Marketing Board has taken steps to purchase paddy at Rs. 75 / = per kilo for the Maha season this year.
