First German death due to infection of new omicron variant has been reported today.
According to the German Institute of Infectious Diseases, Robert Koch is a 60 to 70-year-old man who died from an infection with the Omicron variant.
Three thousand one hundred and ninety-eight people have been diagnosed with the omicron variant from Germany so far.
However, health officials have warned that there could be an increase in the number of infections in Germany with the start of the new year.
