Political analysts also point to the removal of the monument as a clear indication of China’s growing involvement in Hong Kong’s activities.
The massacre was talked about less in China, and Hong Kong is known as a limited area in China that was allowed to commemorate it.
Prior to the removal of the monument, the site had been completely closed and security had been beefed up around the site.
Meanwhile, foreign media reports state that journalists were not allowed to enter the venue.
Thousands of protesters were killed by the Chinese government in 1989 in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, during a protest demanding democratic rights.
