The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage says that the importation of seeds of 07 locally producible crops will be restricted next year.
The Minister also stated that the importation of potatoes, onions, chilies, red onions, undu, maize, and ground nuts will be restricted.
He was speaking at a discussion with the Director General of Agriculture at the Ministry.
The Director General of Agriculture said that the implementation of this program will help to stop the import of chilies completely by 2024 and to limit the imports of potatoes and onions to 35% and 30% respectively.
