Milco requests to increase the price of local milk powder

If the price of imported milk powder is increased, the price of local milk powder should also be increased, says the Chairman, Milco.

However, he did not ask for an increase even when the price of raw material went up but said that he was making the request as the local dairy industry was facing a serious crisis due to the increase in the price of imported milk powder.

“People think liquid milk consumption is high, but in reality, it is cheaper,” he said.

He says that a kilo of milk powder can be used to make 40 glasses of 180 ml milk with 2/3 of the infusion.

He further says that to make that same amount of milk tea, only 2 1/2 liters of fresh milk is going to need.

Accordingly, if one spends Rs. 1000 per kilo of milk powder, it will cost around Rs. 500 for liquid milk to make that same amount of milk tea, he added.

He further said that with the encouragement of the government, Milco has been able to increase its efficiency, increase supply and become a profitable company in the last two years.
