Retired Major General Shantha Dissanayake, Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued a gazette notification setting maximum retail prices for rice and sugar with effect from yesterday (02).
According to the gazette notification regarding sugar, the maximum wholesale price of a kilo of white sugar has been set at Rs. 116. Its maximum retail price is Rs. 122.
Also, the maximum retail price of a kilo of packaged white sugar has been set at Rs. 125.
According to the gazette notification, the maximum retail price of a kilo of brown or red sugar is Rs. 125 and the maximum retail price of a kilo of packed brown or red sugar is Rs. 128.

According to the gazette notification regarding rice, the maximum retail price of a kilo of Keeri samba is Rs. 125, a kilo of White and Red Raw rice is Rs. 95, a kilo of White and Red Naadu is Rs. 98 and a kilo of White and Red Samba is Rs. 125.
