The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) says it strongly opposes the long-term detention of education activists and trade union activists.
Rohan Laksiri, secretary of the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA), said the activists had been detained for a long time for protesting against the anti-democratic government and for fighting to protect the country’s right to free education.
He said the government had forced the police to arrest and forcibly detain the suspects on charges of damaging state property and violating health rules.
The Secretary to the Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) has called on the government to immediately release university students and trade union activists who are not terrorists or criminals.
