The Colombo Crimes Division has commenced an investigation into a complaint lodged with the Borella Police by a prison doctor that former MP Rishad Bathiudeen, who is being held at the Magazine Prison, had threatened him with death.
The Borella Police received a complaint yesterday (20) regarding the threat which was allegedly made on the 15th.
The doctor had told the police that he had immediately informed the higher prison authorities about the threat made to him by the inmate Rishad Bathiudeen.
The doctor had told the Borella Police that the root cause of the threat was, while he was treating the inmates at the prison medical center, an inmate had suddenly come to the treatment center and he told that inmate to get out. The doctor had told the police that he had not identified the inmate as Rishad Bathiudeen at that time and that he later identified him with the threat he had made.
Dr. Priyanga Indunil Pupulewatte of the New Magazine Prison Hospital. is the person who complained that he had been threatened by Rishard.
The doctor had told the police that an inmate and a prison officer were present at the scene at the time of the threat and that he could not remember exactly who they were.
