The Zydus Cadila Covid-19 vaccine, the world’s first DNA vaccine against the corona virus, has been approved for emergency use by the Drug Regulatory Authority of India.
Accordingly, the vaccine will be given to adults and children 12 years of age and older.
This approval is given to the Vaccination Program in India, aiming to vaccinate all eligible adults by December.
As some states are still struggling to control the spread of the virus, the first dose will be given to people under the age of 18 using this vaccine.
The ZyCoV-D vaccine is said to use a genetic material derived from the virus, which identifies the immune system and makes specific proteins that respond as RNA or DNA.
Cadila Healthcare plans to produce 100-120 million vaccines immediately.
