Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has said that the government should take full responsibility for allowing the situation to escalate as the death toll in the country has risen to more than 5,400.
However, a responsible government minister has said that the future should be “handed over to God” and that the government is behaving so foolishly and so irresponsibly that Sri Lanka has become the number one country in the world in terms of the percentage of deaths and infections.
The Leader of the Opposition said in a statement that it was unfortunate that the government had degenerated into making statements that were insulting to the minds of the 69 lakhs of people who voted for him however the total population.
He emphasized that the government, which had not intervened in advance despite the opposition announcing that the Corona disaster was invading Sri Lanka, had behaved in a very insane and irresponsible manner when it invaded the country.
