The Hambantota International Port has achieved great operational progress during the first half of this year.
During the corresponding period of the last year, the port handled freights amounting to 420,421 tonnes. However, the amount rose to a whopping 1. 2 million tonnes during the same period of this year.
Despite the pandemic, the port authorities proceeded with the operation of the port. The port handled vehicles amounting to 239, 827 in the first half of 2020, but it increased to 413,005.
