The Teachers’-Principals’ Trade Union Alliance states that they are rejecting the circular issued by the Secretary of Education to teachers and principals to report back to school from today.
It is reported that the majority of teachers across the country did not come to school from today even though they were asked to report to schools as part of the program to normalize the public service.
Only a few teachers and principals in some schools report to work, while others refrained from reporting.
The Secretary of Education had instructed teachers in all schools across the country to report for duty as usual from today.
Further absence from duties, including withdrawal from online teaching, aesthetic rehearsals for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination, non-submission of examination applications, non-attendance to the duties at Advanced Level Examination, non-application for the GCE Advanced Level Examination Paper Marking, the Teachers’-Principals’ Trade Union Alliance states.
In addition, a significant number of employees from the Education Office, Zonal Education Offices and Divisional Education Offices had reported for duty.
It is said that 80% of the divisional offices and education offices reported for duty today.
