Six Bangladeshi nationals, including a 35-year-old woman, were arrested last night (21) by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Katunayake Airport Unit while attempting to travel to France using forged visas.
The remaining suspects are men aged between 33 and 43. They had entered Sri Lanka on tourist visas and were staying at a lodge near the Katunayake Airport.
Authorities revealed that several Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter European countries illegally via Sri Lanka have been arrested in recent times.
