A proposal to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, who is currently on compulsory leave and in remand custody, was handed over to the Speaker by National People’s Power (NPP) MPs today (25).
The proposal, submitted to Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, includes 27 allegations of misconduct against Tennakoon.
Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe stated that the Speaker will present the proposal to Parliament on the 8th of next month.
A total of 115 NPP MPs signed the proposal, which was officially handed over by Deputy Ministers Mahinda Jayasinghe and Eranga Gunasekara, along with MPs Kaushalya Ariyaratne and Upul Abeywickrama.
