Investigations have revealed that the suspect involved in the rape of a female doctor at Anuradhapura Hospital had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for burglary and theft.
According to police sources, the suspect, who had a strong obsession with mobile phones, not only raped the doctor but also stole her mobile phone. A technical operation using the phone’s number led to his arrest today.
Further inquiries revealed that the suspect had previously been convicted for breaking into the residence of a Colonel and stealing valuables. At the time of his previous arrest, he had disguised himself as a Buddhist monk to evade capture.
