Principal Arrested for Leaking Exam Paper

A principal serving in an acting capacity has been arrested by officers of the Anuradhapura District Criminal Investigation Division for allegedly leaking the Sinhala Language and Literature question paper of the 2024 Third Term Examination for Grade 11 in the Northern Central Province before the exam was conducted.

The suspect, identified as M.M.K. Rajapaksha (52), the acting principal of Athdathpala Rahula Vidyalaya and a resident of Thammannakulama, Anuradhapura, was presented before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court yesterday (29). Following the hearing, he was remanded until the 31st.

The leaked question paper was reportedly circulated via WhatsApp and discussed in tuition classes before the exam. Due to this, the Northern Central Provincial Education Authorities decided to cancel the examination. A formal complaint was then lodged with the police, leading to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.
