The Minister of Energy, Engineer Kumara Jayakody, announced that the government has accepted the recommendation of the Public Utility Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) to reduce electricity bills, with the new rates coming into effect at midnight on January 17.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Power, Minister Jayakody expressed satisfaction with the decision, emphasizing its potential benefits for the public and key industries.
“I am pleased to announce the reduction in electricity bills, which I hope will provide significant relief to the people of this country. This will especially benefit the hotel industry and other industrial sectors,” the minister stated.
