Dr. Ashoka Ranwala has been elected as the new Speaker of the Tenth Parliament.
Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya proposed his name, and the nomination was seconded by Vijitha Herath.
Additionally, Dr. Rizvi Saali has been chosen as the Deputy Speaker.
The nomination was proposed by Member of Parliament Nalinda Jayatissa and seconded by Member of Parliament Saroja Savithri Paulraj.
Hemali Weerasekara was also appointed as the Deputy Chairperson of Committees.
Her name was proposed by Minister Sunil Handunnetti and seconded by Member of Parliament Samanmalee Gunasinghe.
