It is reported that Mr. Karu Paranavithana of the Eksath Janaraja Peramuna Party will fill the vacant position after Ratnapura District Member of Parliament Ms. Thalatha Athukorala decided to resign.
Mrs. Thalatha Athukorala was elected to Parliament in the 2020 election by being ranked third in the Ratnapura district vote list of Samagi Jana Balawega.
After Mrs. Thalatha Athukorala, Mr. Karu Paranavithana, who is in the fifth place in the list, has received 36,787 votes.
Mr. Karu Paranavithana is currently working as a member of the Eksath Janaraja Peramuba led by Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka.
