Compared to the last presidential election, the printing costs of this presidential election may increase by three times, says the Government Printing Department.
Mrs. Ganga Kalpani Liyanage, Printing Press Officer, stated that the increase in the price of raw materials and the increase in the number of ballot papers being printed are the reasons.
In comparison with the last presidential election, other expenses related to the printing of ballot papers have also increased.
Accordingly, it is expected that about 800 million rupees will be spent on the printing works of this year’s presidential election, said the Government Press Officer.
The length of the printed ballot in the last presidential election, 27 inches.
She also said that if the number of candidates increases this time, the printing costs may increase due to the increase in the length of the ballot paper.
