    Remittances from foreign employees have increased

    Central Bank data reports reveal that inflows of foreign workers’ remittances have shown improvement in recent months.

    Last May, Sri Lanka recorded an inflow of foreign remittances of 544.4 million USD.

    Remittances received in April were 543.8 million USD.

    Foreign remittances received in May 2023 were 479.7 million USD.

    According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), the total value of foreign remittances for the period from January to May 2024 is 2,624.4 million US dollars.

    It is an increase of 11.8% compared to the same period last year.
