The 22nd Constitutional Amendment proposal to remove police powers from the Provincial Councils has been published by the Gazette.
The proposal was presented by the Member of Parliament Mr. Udaya Gammanpila. The gazette was released on the last 13th.
There is an opportunity to present it to the Parliament during the parliamentary term starting on the 20th.
Anyone can challenge the constitutionality of this draft before the court within a period of a fortnight from the date of its submission.
After receiving the Supreme Court criteria, this will be passed in the Parliament.
