Sources of Samagi Janabalawega state that Mr. Nayana Wasalathilaka will be appointed to fill the vacant position due to the resignation of Badulla District Member of Parliament Mr. Chaminda Wijesiri.
He obtained 31,307 votes in the 2020 parliamentary election representing Samagi Jana Balawega from the Badulla district.
Nayana is also the chief organizer of the Haputale seat of Samagi Jana Balawega.
As soon as the Speaker notifies the Election Commission of the vacancy, the relevant new position will be gazetted.
Mr. Nayana Wasalathilaka was also the owner of the Goal Titans team in the recently held Lanka Premier League Cricket Tournament (LPL).
