Adhere to the Health Practices Followed During the Last COVID Season

According to Health Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, none of the patients with the new COVID variety reported from India have been reported in the tests carried out in this country so far.

He points out that even though the situation is like this, he is requesting the people to follow the health practices followed during the last COVID period.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Health is following up on the JN.1 new COVID variant reported from India and that he joined the news conference held at the Presidential Media Center today (02) under the theme ‘Collective Path to a Stable Country’.

    The minister further said:

“These days, there is a discussion in the society regarding the JN.1 new COVID variety reported from India. Currently, as reported by the World Health Organization, no one should create undue fear in this regard. The Ministry of Health is continuously following up on this matter. With the support of the Medical Research Institute, measures have been taken to conduct long sample tests in this regard. Accordingly, no patients with the new COVID variant reported from India have been reported from the tests conducted so far in Sri Lanka. But we request the public to follow the health practices followed during the last COVID season.”
