Ms. Thanuja Perera, Tax Policy Adviser of the Ministry of Finance requests the people to request a bill compulsorily when purchasing goods from January 1st.
She said that under the guise of VAT, the cunning tactics of unnecessarily increasing the prices of goods may be in place.
She pointed out that obtaining receipts would enable legal action to be taken against illegal traders.
