Several members of the opposition have today requested the speaker to conduct an investigation into the alleged ‘hand signal’ made by committee chairman Prof. Ranjith Bandara while questioning officials of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute by the COPE committee.
When the Parliament met today, the leader of the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Mr. Sajith Premadasa, said that yesterday (14) while questioning the members of the COPE committee, he thought that the hand signal made by the committee chairman was a hint to ‘don’t answer’.
The Leader of the Opposition emphasized that in view of the serious issues discussed about Sri Lanka Cricket in yesterday’s COPE Committee, the committee chairman should not control the witnesses or questioning committee members in such a way.
Below is the controversial video of the ‘hand signal’ allegedly made by COPE Committee Chairman Professor Ranjith Bandara.
Mr. Hesha Vithanage, a Member of Parliament who is a member of the COPE Committee, accused the Chairman in Parliament today, requesting the Speaker to create an environment where it can be done without the Chairman when the COPE Committee is working on solving the cricket crisis, from now on.
Disgraceful event of affairs at the COPE tr cricket. What an idiotic President is this? Is he so unaware all these actions are on camera? He is not fit to be the COPE president, if he acts so biased. Shame on a higher officer to behave in a such an irresponsible manner. Mother Lanka will never have peace until such people are eliminated.
