The Decision Taken on Bus Fares

The Sri Lankan Private Bus Owners Association says that there is no need for an increase in bus fares despite the increase in diesel prices.

Its secretary Mr. Anjana Priyanjith said that the bus owners are not interested in increasing the bus fares even though the increase in fuel prices is unbearable.

He also said that if the price of diesel is raised again, the bus fares will have to be revised at a very high rate.

“Increasing the price of diesel by 5 rupees is a situation that the bus owner cannot afford. But at the moment we are not at all interested in increasing bus fares. We believe that the passengers and the bus owners and employees should now pressurize the government. Do not increase diesel prices again. If it is increased, the bus owners will have to revise the bus fare at a very high rate,” he said.
