    Court released an Enjoining Order to SLPP’s Secretary

    The Colombo District Court has issued an enjoining order on Sagara Kariyawasam, the secretary of the party, preventing him from removing a member of the Kuruwita Pradeshiya Sabha of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna S. Rathnasiri from the post.

    Mr. S. Rathnasiri had stated in court that the Minister wasudewa had requested the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujama Peramuna t to remove him and appoint another person to fill the vacancy, alleging that he had insulted Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara on May 20, 2020 near the Kuruwita Water Supply Scheme. Therefore, the MP had pointed out that the action taken to expel him from the party was against the law and had requested the court to issue an enjoining order to the Secretary of the SLPP preventing him from being removed and appointing another person to fill the vacancy.

    The enjoining order was issued by Colombo District Judge Aruna Aluthge after considering the complaint filed by the MP.

    The court also issued notices to Secretary of the Sri Lanka People’s Front Sagara Kariyawasam and Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara, who have been named as respondents.
