A police sergeant who cheated a person out of Rs 25 lakh by giving a plate which had no antique value while saying it was an antique plate, has been arrested by the officers of the Matale Special Crime Investigation Department.
This sergeant is working in Welambada Police. This scam was done by several people including him last March.
According to the complaint made by the victim to Matale Special Criminal Investigation Division, the officer was arrested. Before this, two persons including a woman were arrested in connection with this fraud.
