The government decides to revise water and sewerage rates.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal to do it with minimal impact on the low-income groups and the social security base provided in relation to educational, religious and public water supplies.
The proposal was presented to the Cabinet by the Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development.
The government has taken this decision because the financial viability and sustainability of the water supply board should be confirmed in order to achieve the objectives of expanding access to safe water and sanitation, improving the quality of service and implementing sustainable water resource practices.
