A person entered the main post office in Ragama by breaking the roof and ceiling, cut the safe with a grinder and stole 425,000 rupees from it.
Ragama Police say that this theft happened last weekend.
Along with this post office, 08 post offices have been robbed and more than 55 lakhs of rupees have been stolen, in the past 03 months.
All these 08 thefts took place during weekends and long holiday periods. Also, most of the safes were cut with a grinder. Accordingly, almost all these thefts can be suspected to be the work of the same person.
Post offices located in Kadavata Ulakaragahamula, Wennappuwa, Alavwa, Galgamuwa, Warakapola, Kelaniya and Mahabage had been robbed before this.
