According to the Department of Population and Statistics, consumer inflation fell to 12% in June.
This was revealed by the announcement on Colombo Urban Consumer Inflation issued by the same department today (30).
Accordingly, the data reports of the Department of Population and Statistics reveal that during the month of June, the consumer inflation of the Colombo urban community has decreased rapidly compared to last May.
According to the department’s data, last May, the consumer inflation of the Colombo urban community was stated as 25.2%.
In the meantime, the Year-on-Year inflation calculated for the food category, which had risen rapidly in the past, has come down to 4.1% in June.
The Department of Population and Statistics reports show that inflation in this category was 21.5% last May.
Meanwhile, the Year-on-Year inflation of the non-food category for the month of June has dropped to 16.2%, which was recorded as 27% in May this year.
