A fisherman who went fishing in the Valachchena Armerkuda lagoon was electrocuted and died after being contacted with an unauthorized electric cable that had been drawn to the prawn cage in the lagoon.
M. Ansar (54), a fisherman, who is a resident of Valachchena, Kahawattamuna, Panichchi Foot Road has died.
The fisherman’s wife came to the police station yesterday morning (27th) stating that the husband went to the lagoon for cleaning work on the 26th evening and he did not return.
According to the complaint, his body was found in the lagoon. In the investigation, it has been found that he died after being hit by an unauthorized electric cable that was drawn to the prawn cage.
