CEB leases a plot of land in Maussakale to UAE to build a luxury hotel

The Government has decided to give a piece of land adjacent to Maussakale Reservoir and a small island in the same reservoir to the United Arab Emirates company for the implementation of a luxury hotel project on a long-term lease basis, which is currently in the custody of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the President as Minister of Investment Promotion.

Accordingly, this land is given to United Arab Emirates Capital Investment LLC on a long-term lease basis.

That is as a full foreign direct investment.

The estimated investment for the project to build and run a hotel complex in that land is 25 million US dollars.

Accordingly, the President had submitted the above proposal to the Cabinet to give the land areas to the said company on a long-term lease basis in order to implement the proposed project by obtaining the agreement of the relevant institutions.
