A special three-judge bench will be appointed to hear the case related to the killing of former parliamentarian Mr. Amarakirthi Athukorala and the police officer who was protecting him during the struggle.
The three appointed judges are Sahan Yapa Bandara, Rashmi Singappuli and Ruwan Pathiranai.
At the request of the Attorney General, this appointment was made by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya.
Last year on May 09, former Member of Parliament of Polonnaruwa District Mr. Amarakirthi Athukorala and the security police officer were killed in Nittambuwa area during the violent incidents that took place all over the island.
