    After a year, a complaint was received about a robbery that took place during the May 9th struggle

    Maharagama Police Station received a complaint after a year and a month about a robbery committed by a group of activists on May 09, 2022 near Maharagama Police Station.

    The complaint was made by a businessman who is a resident of Katuwana.

    The businessman complained to the police and mentioned that a group consisting of 35 people, including the chairman of Katuwana local council who came to the Temple Trees for a meeting of the then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and were returning after the meeting, was attacked when a group of about 200 people of activists stopped the bus they were travelling. He complained to the police that they robbed him of Rs. 10,000 and a gold necklace worth Rs. 730,000.

    A senior officer of Maharagama Police said that an investigation is being conducted regarding this complaint.
