Minister of State for Defense Pramitha Bandara Thennakone says that the law will be strictly enforced against those who cause religious discord.
Accordingly, if any person or organized group tries to act with such a narrow intention, he mentioned that the law will be implemented strictly according to Chapter 9 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka and 291 (a), (b) of the Penal Code without any hesitation.
The Ministry of Defense has confirmed this fact by issuing an announcement this morning (30).
It also states that the Ministry of Defense has focused its attention on various sections with different objectives who are hoping to disrupt the peaceful situation by creating religious conflicts in the country.
Is this article ambiguous or was the Minister being deliberately ambiguous giving the authorities a wide margin to suppress minority religions.
