Dr. Anoja Deerasinghe, Community Health Specialist of the Ministry of Health’s National Dengue Control Unit, said that there is a risk of dengue epidemic occurring all over the island.
Dr. Anoja Deerasinghe said that in other years during the monsoon, the number of dengue cases reported in a month is between 400 and 500, but now the number of dengue cases reported in a month has increased to between 1000-1500.
The doctor also said that during this year, about 38000 cases of dengue fever cases have been reported in Sri Lanka, and 24 of them have died.
