According to the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. G. Wijesuriya, 32 children affected by dengue are being treated at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, and 10 of them are suffering from dengue hemorrhagic disease.
He also said that there is currently a dengue epidemic in many medical officer divisions across 16 districts.
The National Dengue Control Unit says that steps have been taken to establish village committees for dengue control.
Its director Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne said that the village officials will implement that.
