A person was shot dead near the railway crossing on Borella Leslie Ranagala Mawatha this morning.
The victim, a resident of Kelaniya, came on a motorcycle and was shot dead while standing on the road in front of his house.
The police say that the shooting was done with a T56 weapon by two people who came on a motorcycle.
A high-ranking police officer said that the T-56 gun had run out of ammunition. More than 20 T-56 empty ammunition casings were found on the ground around the place of the shooting.
A person named Sanjeewa who’s 53-year-old has been killed.
Even a newspaper linked to the LTTE was edited by this man during the 2002 peace accord.
The police even arrested him during the investigation of the killing of Lt. Col. Tuan Meadin on October 29, 2005, in Narahenpita, who was the head of armed intelligence and was the biggest headache for the LTTE.
There, a lot of information was revealed about the relationship he had with LTTE. It was said at that time that he was receiving money from the LTTE and that he had worked as a spy in Colombo for LTTE.
The police even arrested this man on the charge of espionage for the killing of elites and army chiefs in connection with the LTTE.
This person, who was a person with huge political connections, got bail after being remanded for a while.
It is not clear what the purpose of this killing was. This person resides in Kelaniya. Information has been received that he is currently running a cleaning company.
Most of the people working in his company are staying in Borella. Therefore, investigations have also revealed that he used to ride a motorcycle from Kelaniya and come to Borella in the morning to pay the employees and direct them to the customers.
Meanwhile, he was shot and killed at around 5.30 am this morning.
This person had also started a large-scale cleaning company along with his friend. It is also said that the partner has defrauded this person of money. Investigations have revealed that a case related to that is being heard in the court, and its decision is scheduled to be announced in the near future. Information has also been received that if this person’s friend is found guilty according to the court verdict, he will have to pay a lot of money valued in millions. There is even a suspicion that there is any connection between this murder and that case.
The police is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation by studying all these incidents.
