According to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, about 50% of the total water consumers do not pay their bill within the specified period of the month.
There are about 2.9 million water consumers.
Deputy General Manager (Commerce) Piyal Pathmanatha stated that due to this, only 2-2.5 billion rupees will be received from the 4.5 billion rupees to be collected.
He also stated that a large percentage of water bill arrears are domestic water consumers.
Piyal Pathmanatha, Deputy General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board further stated that if the related payments are made within 14 days of receipt of the water bill, the customers will be entitled to a discount.
I would like to what’s the discount for early payments, for I have not benefitted from this
