It is reported that there has been a conflict of opinion between the university lecturers regarding the evaluation of the answer sheets of the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination.
A group of university lecturers are of the opinion that the evaluation of answer sheets cannot be delayed further by imposing trade union measures or other conditions and therefore, they should come together to evaluate the answer sheets.
As opposition political groups of the government and various parties, including parents, are protesting, they are of the opinion that the evaluation of the A/L answer sheets should be done without further delay.
In the meantime, it is said that another group of lecturers have taken a firm decision not to participate in the evaluation of the answer sheets until the tax relief imposed by the government is given.
It is also reported that among the people who hold both of these opinions are members of the Federation of University Doctors’ Associations.
In a query to the President of the Federation of University Doctors’ Association, Professor V. M. H. Bannahaka, it was mentioned that the lecturers have decided to evaluate the answer sheets, but it will be delayed until the President allows a discussion.
He said that the President promised to give a discussion, but he did not receive such until today (02) afternoon.
