The Speaker has taken steps to adjourn the Parliament until 9.30 am tomorrow (22) due to the opposition MPs launching a protest in the Parliament House today (21) demanding the holding of local government elections.
According to the decision of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs to convene the Parliament from today until February 24, the parliamentary session started today at 9.30 am under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The debate on several directives related to the bills was also scheduled to be held in today’s parliamentary session.
