Samagi Jana Balawegaya says that they will take the battle to the streets with the people if the election is not held.
The party also points out that they will take necessary measures to protect democratic rights.
Its General Secretary, Member of Parliament Ranjith Maddumabandara, said that in view of the defeat in the local government elections, the government is still trying to postpone it by any means necessary.
The Secretary-General said that the President is bound by law to hold elections.
He alleges that the government is trying to destroy democratic rights by postponing the elections in the country where everything has been lost.
People’s protest on the public streets is a democratic right against undemocratic decisions of the rulers.
