A candidate from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the Tirappane Regional Council for this year’s local government elections was arrested by the Tirappane Police while he was distilling illegal liquor (Kasippu).
A 28-year-old resident of Uttimaduwa, Thirappane has been arrested as follows. It has been arrested 1.8 million ml of Goda and 3750 ml of illegal liquor spirits.
This candidate has been distilling liquor in a forested area.
The police conducted the raid based on information received that this candidate was illegally distilling alcohol.
