Yesterday, 25 publishers submitted complaints to the Criminal Investigation Department, demanding an investigation into the illegal distribution of PDF copies of printed books through social media networks.
The publishers have indicated in their complaints that this racket is being carried out by publishing their publications in PDF format on social media.
The complaints even mention information about the people involved and the social media accounts.
The complaints further stated that at a time when the trade of books has declined very rapidly, printed books have been displayed on Telegram, WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, and websites without permission, as well as being exchanged among a huge number of people daily.
The complaints state that many readers of printed books are accustomed to reading these copies published in an illegal manner in the current economic inflationary background, and it is a serious threat to the printed book trade as well as the industry.
