We are going to court against the Hapuhinna trickery – Sajith

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa said today (24) that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will go to court against the attempt made by the Hapuhinna trickery and the Treasury Secretary to spoil the people’s sovereignty.

As a new step in disrupting these elections, an attempt is being made to undermine the Election Commission by changing the members of the Election Commission tomorrow through the Constituent Assembly. But since the punishment given in an attempt to spoil the people’s sovereignty is mentioned in the law books of the country, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is going to court against the attempt made by Hapuhinna and the Treasury Secretary.

Likewise, if the meeting of the Constituent Assembly is used to disrupt the election to be held on March 9, any measure will be taken to defeat that act by protecting the voting rights of the people of the country.

I’m asking the responsible parties of the Constituent Assembly not to include conspiracies in the agenda of the meeting of the Constituent Assembly tomorrow to postpone the elections. The opposition leader said that we also would like to warn not to do anything to harm the representatives of the Independent Election Commission.

The opposition leader also stated that Samagi Jana Balawegaya is ready to protect the members, including the Chairman of the Election Commission and as the leader of the opposition, he will provide leadership to defeat all conspiracies that spoil the sovereignty of the people in this country and will come forward at any time to protect the voting rights of the people.

Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, further said that the people who raised insults when he declared that the elections were necessary are requesting the elections at this time, and therefore he would give leadership to defeat any attempt by the government to postpone or disrupt the elections.
