The Court of Appeal has decided to hear the petition submitted by a group of ministers whose houses were set on fire on May 9, requesting that measures be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Accordingly, the Court of Appeal has issued notices to Defense Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne, Chief of Defense Staff General Shavendra Silva, Inspector General of Police, Army Commander and 18 others to appear before the court on the 24th.
A writ petition had been submitted by the relevant Ministers to issue writ orders to the Attorney General, Defense Secretary and Inspector General of Police to take action in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding the recommendations of the Admiral Wasantha Karnagoda Committee report appointed to investigate the attack on May 09.
The Court of Appeal has decided to hear this petition.
