    School uniform fabrics have been received from China as a grant

    The country has received 8,862,990 meters of fabric as a grant from the Chinese government, completing 70% of the school uniform requirement in the year 2023.

    Mr. Hu Wei, the Acting Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, officially handed over the textile stock to the Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha at the Colombo Port premises today.

    1/3 of the fabric that has been cut and packed and labeled so that it can be given directly to the students has already been received in Sri Lanka.

    In the near future, the rest of the stock will also be received.

    Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said here that school uniforms related to the 2023 school year will be provided by March 20 for all the government and government-aided schools across the island, including the 4.1 million children and as well as for the monks studying in Piriven.

    The Acting Chinese Ambassador here also officially informed the Minister of Education that the amount of 10,000 metric tons of rice that was given in parts by the Chinese government on several occasions as a donation for the government school lunch program in this country has now been completely supplied.
