A group of doctors say that if 2000 prisoners are released under amnesty at once, the government can save around Rs 80 crore per year, which can be used to improve the nutritional status of children.
The doctors also state that only Rs. 660 million are spent annually to improve the nutritional status of about 1.1 million children across the country.
They also say that lack of proper nutrition in childhood reduces the body growth of children and reduces reasoning and critical thinking.
Therefore, the doctors also mention that it is necessary to launch a systematic program at the state level to provide the necessary nutrition to school children.
Doctors also say that the government spends about Rs. 5 billion a year to provide food to prisoners.
They also point out that granting amnesty to parolable prisoners would not have a negative impact on society and would cost their families economically.
